Betty Boggs

June 19, 1934 – May 24, 2019

Betty J. Boggs, 84, of Ironton, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019, at Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Boyd County, Kentucky native was born June 19, 1934, the daughter of the late John and Monnie Duley Callihan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Boggs, who passed away July 6, 2018.

Betty attended Ironton schools and was a former nurse aide for Jo-Lin Nursing Home, where she retired in 1985 after 11 years of service.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Lee Callihan, Jr. and Jim Callihan; and a sister, Mary Cooper.

She was survived by three sons, Jack Boggs of Palm Coast, Florida, Paul Boggs of Ironton, and Jerry Boggs of Merritt Island, Florida.

Burial was 11 a.m. Tuesday at Haverhill Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.

Mary Kimble

June 12, 1929 – May 25, 2019

Mary Elizabeth Kimble, born June 12, 1929, departed this life May 25, 2019, she went home to be with the Lord. The Lawrence County native was the daughter of the late Rev. Preston Humphrey and Della Aldridge Humphrey.

Mary was the wife of the late Rev. Howard Kimble, whom she married Sept. 10, 1949.

Mary was a devoted wife and mother, devoted to God and her work as a pastors wife.

Mary graduated from Decatur High School with the class of 1947, she was valedictorian of her class.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James Humphrey, Ray Humphrey and Charles (Jiggs) Kerns and their wives.

Survivors are son, Rev. James Kimble and his wife Marsha of Ironton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary and Ray McCarty of Ironton and Karen (Susie) and Rev. Kenneth Webb of Pedro; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, all of whom she loved so very much; and two nieces, Donna Raye Swords of Patriot and Jane Paul of Troy.

Mary was a member of Campbell Chapel F.W.B. Church of Ironton and also attended Pine Grove F.W.B. Church, which her husband Rev. Howard founded. She loved her churches very much.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton, with the Rev. Kelly Stapleton and Tim Stapleton officiating.

Burial will follow in Oakland Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be 5–8 p.m. Wednesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

Homer Jenkins

June 2, 1934 – May 26, 2019

Homer Eugene Jenkins, 84, of Kitts Hill, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born June 2, 1934, a son of the late Thomas Jenkins and Ruth Pierce Jenkins.

Homer is survived by his wife of 64 years, Regina Gail Nance Jenkins, whom he married November 4, 1954.

Mr. Jenkins was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the VFW Post 8850. He was a burner helper for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Company in Salinas, California and was a member of the Carpenters Union out of Portsmouth for several years. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by four sons, Stephen Jenkins and Homer Jenkins both of Kitts Hill, Rick (Lisa) Jenkins of Prunedale, California and Dana (Judy) Jenkins of Vinton City, Washington; two daughters-in law: Janet Cremeans of Ironton and Bonnie Jenkins of Kitts Hill; three sisters: Betty Walls of Kitts Hill, Janet Robinson of Hickory, North Carolina and Beverly Wolers of Reno, Nevada; and twenty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Eugene Jenkins and Dean Thomas Jenkins; a grand-daughter, Paula Jenkins; one sister, Maxine Smith; three brothers, Michael Jenkins, William Jenkins, Charles “Benny” Jenkins; and a daughter-in-law, Valorie Jenkins.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Robert Lowe

Robert Owen Lowe, 81, of Ashland, Kentucky, died on May 25, 2019, at the Hospice Care Center.
He is survived by his wife, Sonja Kitchen Lowe.

A graveside funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Vernon Cemetery in Decatur Township with Pastor James Lindsey and Bill Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Decatur Township. Visitation will be from 6–8 p.m. today at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel.

Marty Dale Chin, 63, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, West Virginia.
