Wood, Baker earn trip to state meet

NEW CONCORD — Noah Wood and Eli Baker can share a ride to Columbus.
On Saturday at the Division II regional track meet at Muskingum University, Rock Hill Redmen standouts Wood and Baker both earned a berth in the state track meet.
Wood won the 400-meter dash with a 49.48-seconds time while Baker placed third in the 800-meter run with a 1:57.89 time.
The top four finishers in each event at the regional meets advanced to the Ohio High School Athletic Association state track and field meet to be held Friday at Saturday at Jesse Owens Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University.
The Ironton Fighting Tigers’ 4×100-meter relay team of John Higgins, Kameron Browning, Trent Hacker and Charlie Large was seventh with a 44.63-seconds clocking.
Rock Hill’ 4×400 relay team of Victory Aguilera, Gabe Kidd, Wood and Baker was sixth with a 3:31.16 time.
Fairland Dragons’ Spencer Harris was sixth in the high jumper as he cleared 6-2. Ironton’s Trent Hacker was 11th at 5-8.
Rock Hill’s T.J. McGinnis was eighth in the shot put with a heave of 48-2.
In the girls’ 100-meter hurdles, South Point Lady Pointers’ Elaysia Wilburn was fifth at 15.91 seconds.
