Lions host Project Lifesaver
The Ironton Lions Club recently hosted the Lawrence County Sheriff Project Lifesaver team.
Project Lifesaver is a tool for adults and children with disabilities, autism, brain injury, dementia or Alzheimer‚ that may wander off or become lost or disoriented.
Each qualified person is assigned a bracelet equipped with a transmitter so local law enforcement can track the individual, assigned frequency number and locate the client should they get lost or separated from their family.
Project Lifesaver in Lawrence County has 12 individuals that are active in the program today. Over the last nine years, the project has helped 57 families.
There is a waiting list for additional bracelets. The bracelets and other needed equipment are purchased with donations. The Ironton Lions Club donates to and was instrumental in the creation of the program. Anyone wishing to learn more or donate to the cause, can contact Nancy Huff @ 740-532-3106 or 740-532-3525, or at lcso53@yahoo.com.
