Paulette Payne
Oct. 6, 1947 — July 11, 2019
Paulette Payne, 71, formerly of Ironton, passed away Thursday evening, July 11, 2019 at The Laurels of Athens.
Born Oct. 6, 1947 in Ironton, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Chester Heaberlin and Gertrude “Bette” (White) Heaberlin.
A 1966 graduate of Rock Hill High School, she spent her career employed as an assembly line worker in Columbus. She was a former resident of Columbus and had been living in Athens for three years. She enjoyed her favorite television shows, watching movies, spending time with her family and trying new foods.
Paulette is survived by her son and his partner, Robert A. Payne and Mary Swain; a granddaughter, Chloe Payne; a grandson, Smith Payne; a sister, Peg (Wade) Dyer, of Wheelersburg; two brothers, Rick (Jolinda) Heaberlin, of Ironton, and Kerry (Kathy) Heaberlin, of Ironton; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Payne, on Feb. 8, 2016; and a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Doug Lawless.
A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. today at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, 24 Morris Ave., Athens, with Pastor Butch Deer officiating. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. today at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services.

Juanita Southers

Juanita Southers of Ironton, was called home to be with her savior on July 13, 2019.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Southers, and her parents, Roy and Darlene (Wilson) Foe.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Laura Allen) Southers, of Hebron, Kentucky; Carla Southers, of Arlington, Virginia; and Sean Southers, of Ironton.
She loved her grandchildren, Mariah Southers and Nolan Southers, both of Hebron, Kentucky, and Matthew Southers, of Ironton.
She was born in Ironton, attended Waterloo Schools and graduated from Symmes Valley High School. She attended Pine Street United Methodist Church and Resurrection Hope United Methodist Church. She was employed by the Central Christian Church Daycare Center and the Lawrence County Board of Elections.
A memorial service will be held on 2 p.m. Friday at Resurrection Hope United Methodist Church, 617 Wyanoke St., Ironton. Private burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery. Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, is assisting the family with arrangements.

George Keating
April 16, 1936 — July 14, 2019
George Thomas Keating, 83, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019, at a local nursing home facility.
Mr. Keating was born April 16, 1936, in Ironton, a son to the late Enoch and Effie Layne Keating. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Keating, who passed away Jan. 31, 2009.
Mr. Keating attended Rock Hill Schools and was a former laborer for DTNI Railroad.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Helms; and a son, Roscoe Keating.
He is survived by three daughters, Sheila Stewart, Angela Riggs and Saundra Henry; a stepdaughter, Leonda Faulkner; a stepson, Frank Murphy; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St. Ironton, with Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

Dean Waller
Sept. 19, 1959 — July 15, 2019
Dean Kevin Waller, 59, of Milford, formerly of Coal Grove, went to be with his Lord on July 15, 2019.
Dean was born in Ironton on Sept. 19, 1959, and reborn in Christ on June 24, 2018.
He was the son of the late Ralph Waller, of Ironton, and Freda Waller.
Preceded in death by a brother, Roger Waller, he is survived, along with his mother, by a sister, Brenda (Larry) Woodrum, of Ironton; and a niece, Mitzi Waller of Orlando, Florida.
Dean was a 1977 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School in Coal Grove and was employed as a Blueprint Estimator by Hyde Park Lumber in Cincinnati.
Funeral Services will be at noon Friday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home in Ironton with Bro. Kenny Hurst officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery.
