ROME TOWNSHIP — Children attending the Lawrence County Fair made a pledge to be drug-free.
Joe Lawless, a counselor at Riverside Recovery Services, constructed the “Tree of Life,” a six-foot display.
At the beginning of the fair, its branches were bare, but, as children signed their names to the leaves and added them to display, it quickly filled up.
Andie Leffingwell, an officer at Riverside said there were more than 200 names by the end of the week.
“The Tree of Hope is hope that the generation of youth participating in the RRS Booth every day at the Fair will change the future of addiction,” she said.
