Joyce Marie “Momma Duck” Cecil, 64, of Ironton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia, after an extended illness.

The Lawrence County native was born June 3, 1955, a daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Betty Abner Bond. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa Sue Cecil, who passed away Oct. 22, 1981.

Joyce attended Rock Hill Local Schools and was a former employee of Richard’s Steak House and Coal Grove Freezette. After marriage, she spent the rest of her life as a homemaker.

She enjoyed spending time with her family as well as her cats and two dogs. Joyce was beloved by all who knew her. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by three sons, Chris (Leanna) Cecil and Jeremy (LaDonna) Cecil, both of Ironton, and Scott (Kat) Cecil of Rush, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Bailey and Pamela (Danny) Gibbs, both of Ironton; two brothers, Eddie Bond and Phillip (Tanya) Bond, both of Ironton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Hanging Rock Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Jackson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of the service at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton.

At Joyce’s request, she will receive a motorcycle escort from the funeral home at 1 p.m. to the graveside by sons, Chris and Scott Cecil, as well as members of the Brothers of the Wheel motorcycle club.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Joyce to Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton.

Flora Elizabeth Ellis, 79, of Chesapeake, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at home.

Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

Norma Jones

Norma Jones, 94, of Proctorville, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at her home.

A mass in her honor will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday by Father Charles Moran at St. Ann Catholic Church in Chesapeake.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington.

Rita Jane Barker McComas Estep, 61, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by Pastor James Asbury.
