PEDRO — Sam Simpson is not magician, but he still knows how to work some tricks with the hat.
The Rock Hill freshman has his first career hat trick with three goals in the Redmen 5-0 Ohio Valley Conference soccer win over the Fairland Dragons on Tuesday.
Seniors Jasson Aguilera and Brady Floyd each had a goal with Floyd getting two assists and Aguilera one.
“I thought we played well. We came out aggressive and really controlled possession, which is always a goal of ours,” said Rock Hill coach Luke Simpson.
“Fairland is always a tough team to score on, so I was excited that we came out strong and found the back of the net early.”
Blake Wilson and goalkeeper Hunter Sparks with four saves helped key the Rock Hill defensive effort that produce its third shutout.
“Defensively, we were able to accomplish our third shutout in five games this season,” said Simpson.
Rock Hill (4-1, 2-0) plays at Lucasville Valley on Thursday and visits at South Point on Tuesday and Gallipolis on Thursday in two key OVC games.
