Lady Flyers show improvement in volleyball loss at Western

LATHAM — The St. Joseph Lady Flyers showed a progression of improvement.
Unfortunately, the improvement wasn’t enough against the Southern Ohio Conference heavyweight Western Lady Indians.
St. Joseph improved each set but lost the volleyball game to Western (11-5, 8-2) in straight sets, 8-25, 14-25 and 16-25.
The Lady Flyers played well in different stretches of the game including on defense where Jadyn Green, Chloe Sheridan, Bella Whaley and Jade DeGiorgio combined for 38 digs.
Faith Mahlmeister had four kills for the Lady Flyers.
St. Joseph statistics leaders were:
Emma Whaley one kill and two digs; Jade DeGiorgio 14 digs; Chloe Sheridan two kills, five assists and eight digs; Faith Mahlmeister four kills and one dig; Gracie Damron one solo block, one block assist and two digs; Bella Whaley one block assist and six digs; and Jadyn Green had four aces, one kill and 10 digs.
St. Joseph visits Portsmouth Notre Dame on Tuesday and host New Boston next Thursday.
