Lowell Blevins

Aug. 8, 1957 – Sept. 24, 2019

Lowell K. Blevins, 62, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019 at Kings’ Daughters’ Medical Center. He was born on Aug. 8, 1957 in Ironton, to the late Lowell “Poncho” and Donna Richendollar Blevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Blevins.

He was retired from CSX where he worked as a train conductor and engineer. He loved hunting, fishing and vintage cars and was an avid collector of Matchbox cars.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Flowers Blevins; three sons, Eric and Amanda Crager, Eddie and Mistia Pennington and Nicholas Roberts; a daughter, Jennifer Pennington; four grandchildren, Ethan Crager, Lexi Crager, Steven Crager and Frank (Trey) Kiser III; One brother, Paul Blevins; and a sister, Jenny Blevins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 4 p.m. at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel and will be officiated by Reverend Brian Steele. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel from 2-3:45 p.m.

Mary Thompson

April 4, 1948 – Sept. 28, 2019

Mary Katherine “Sis” Harris Thompson, 71 of Kitts Hill, (formerly of Flatwoods, Kentucky), went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton.

Mrs. Thompson was born April 4, 1948 in Hanover County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Leon Harris and Mary Anna Strong Harris. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Harris and Ebert Harris.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her loving husband, Bill Thompson; two daughters, Mary L. (Richard) Roach, of South Webster, and Amanda L. (Paul) Douglas, of Ironton; one son, Lee (Leisa) Thompson, of Kitts Hill; three sisters, Maudie Hackworth, of Ashland, Kentucky, Gracie (Wendell) Meadows, of Greenup, Kentucky, and Martha (Jimmy) Bowling, of Flatwoods, Kentucky; four brothers, Mason Harris, of Bumpass, Virginia, Marvin (Judy) Harris, of Russell, Kentucky, Aaron (Gale) Harris, of Greenup, Kentucky, and Joe (Louise) Harris, of Chesterfield, Virginia; four grandchildren, Tiffanie, Tabitha, Luke, Conner; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service for Mary K. Thompson will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Kentucky, with Reverend Glen Stephens officiating. Burial will be at Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd. The visitation will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

 

Betty Boster

Betty Jane Boster, 93, of Barboursville, West Virginia, died Sunday Sept. 29, 2019 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, West Virginia.

Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. today at the Apostolic Life Cathedral, 350 Staunton St., Huntington, West Virginia, with service to follow at 7 p.m. by Bishop E.S. Harper. Burial will be White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, West Virginia.

Roger Horn

Roger R. Horn, 66, of Proctorville, died Friday Sept. 27, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherri Horn.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow at Miller Memorial Gardens in Miller. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jerry Alley

Jerry Wilson Alley, 73, of Ironton, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at St. Mary’s Medical Center Ironton Campus, Ironton. He is survived by his wife, Minnie Jane Alley.

A graveside service will be at Oakland Cemetery, Patriot.

Carol Calton

Carol Hudson Calton, 56, of Kitts Hill, died on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the First Christian Baptist Church at 2427 S. 11th St., Ironton, with the Brother Lloyd Wilson officiating. She will be laid to rest with her family in the Fradd Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon until time of services at the church.

Brown Funeral Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.

 

Cynthia Johnson

Cynthia Jill Johnson, 54, of Proctorville, died on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 at Monarch Meadows Nursing home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. the same day at the funeral home.

All donations to help with funeral costs and costs accrued during caring for her in her recent decline can be made to the Jill Johnson memorial fund at Fifth Third Bank.
