Lady Tigers travel to get 2 volleyball wins

PEDRO — It has been said that life on the road is only good when you win.
Life was good to the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers the last two days.
On Tuesday, the Lady Tigers traveled to Rock Hill for an Ohio Valley Conference volleyball game and beat the injury-riddled Redwomen in straight sets, 25-9, 25-10 and 25-5.
Ironton was back on the road to Wayne, W.Va., on Wednesday and posted another straight sets win, 25-10, 25-12, 25-17.
The trio of Peighton Rowe, Riley Schreck and Mary Beth Burton led the offense with 11 points each.
Samantha LaFon got 10 points and Lydia Hannan nine.
LaFon picked up 14 kills and Burton slammed home eight more. Devin Forest, Lydia Hannan and Schreck had two each.
On Wednesday, Schreck lit up Wayne (5-14) for 23 points including 11 aces to lead all servers.
LaFon had 13 points with six aces, Burton and Hannan seven points each, Rowe three and Kameren Artis two.
LaFon registered 14 kills again against Wayne with Hannan getting six and Burton four.
Hannan also had 18 assists with Arden getting nine.
Schreck led the defense with 13 digs, Burton had seven and Forest five.
Ironton hosts Coal Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in a league game.
