PROCTORVILLE — The Gallipolis Blue Devils don’t just have a strong team. They have an Armstrong team.
James Armstrong ran 30 times for 197 yards and four touchdowns as Gallipolis beat the Fairland Dragons 28-0 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Friday.
Gallipolis (6-0, 3-0) had 303 yards rushing as Michael Beasy added 91yards on 13 attempts. Quarterback Noah Vanco was 9-of-11 passing for 87 yards.
Fairland (3-3, 1-2) was held to 83 yards rushing and 90 passing for 173 total yards.
Michael Stitt ran five times for 57 yards and quarterback Max Ward was 12-of-23 for 69 yards with an interception.
Brennan West had five catches for 35 yards, Gavin Hunt three grabs for 29 yards and Reilly Sowards made his season debut following a preseason injury and had four receptions for 14 yards.
Armstrong had a 3-yard scoring run in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead.
He then had touchdown runs of one and 45 yards in the second quarter to make it 21-0 at the half.
After a scoreless third quarter, Armstrong had a 1-yard scoring plunge and it was 28-0.
Next Friday, Fairland visits South Point and Gallipolis entertains Coal Grove.
