Clay downs Lady Flyers

PORTSMOUTH — The St. Joseph Lady Flyers played a tough opponent on the road and played tough.
Portsmouth Clay — a team that reached the state tournament last season — posted a 25-17, 25-9, 25-16 Southern Ohio Conference volleyball win on Tuesday over the Lady Flyers.
Lady Flyers’ team statistics were:
Emma Whaley two digs; Jade DeGiorgio one ace and 11 digs; Chloe Sheridan four assists and 15 digs; Faith Mahlmeister two aces, three kills and two digs; Gracie Damron one kill, one assist and one dig (seven kills against River Valley on Saturday); Bella Whaley one kill and seven digs; Aubrey Sutton one dig; Jadyn Green one ace, one kills and 13 digs.
St. Joseph visits Coal Grove on Wednesday, host Symmes Valley on Thursday and travels to Huntington St. Joe on Friday.
The Lady Flyers play at Symmes Valley on Monday in the Division IV sectional tournament with the game starting at 6 p.m.
