Reynolds, Scott lead Redwomen to sectional win

PEDRO — The Rock Hill Redwomen are now officially 1-for-2.
The Redwomen routed the Southeastern Lady Panthers 7-2 in a Division III sectional soccer game on Monday, thus giving the program its first tournament win in a brief two-year history.
Makayla Scott and Bri Reynolds doubled down as each scored two goals
The two goals by Reynolds gave her 21 for the season to set a single-season school record. Lucy Simpson had two assist to give her a total of 18 and a single-season school record.
Scott snapped a scoreless tie with a goal at the 12-minute mark with an assist from Emmi Stevens.
Reynolds got the next two goals with assists from Simpson and Stevens and it was 3-0 at the 32-minute mark.
Six minutes later, Stevens scored as Reynolds had the assist and it was 4-0 at the half.
Rock Hill (15-1-1) extended the lead to 5-0 on a goal by Scott and an assist by Simpson with 61:00 on the clock.
Sierra Mitten scored four minutes later as the Lady Panthers finally got on the scoreboard, but it took just one minute for Regan Massie to answer for Rock Hill as Reynolds got the assist and it was 6-1.
Kate Delong completed the Rock Hill scoring with a goal at the 70-minute mark with Reynolds getting her third assist.
Mitten added her second goal five minutes later.
Rock Hill goalie Grace Stevens had seven saves while Southeastern’s Tamara Elliot had 13.
Rock Hill host Eastern Brown at 5 p.m. Thursday in the finals.
