Redmen qualify for 4th state XC meet

PICKERINGTON — If you’re keeping score, that makes four.
By placing number four in the boys’ Division 3 regional cross country meet, the Rock Hill Redmen earned a berth in the state meet for the fourth time.
Rock Hill finished fourth with 147 points. Mount Gilead was first with 54 points, Fredericktown 104 and Leesburg Fairfield had 125 points.
The top five teams advance to the state along with individual runners finishing among the top 20.
The state meet will be Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Hebron.
The girls’ state meet times are 11 a.m. for D3, 11:45 for D2 and 12:30 p.m. for D1. The boys’ times are 1:30 for D3, 2:15 for D2 and 3 p.m. for D1.
Leading the Redmen to a state berth was senior Jasson Aguilera who was 15th overall among 115 runners. Aguilera zipped through the course with a speedy 16:55.0 clocking.
Fairland Dragons’ senior Ethan Lafon qualified for the state meet as he ran the course in 17 minutes flat and was No. 19 overall.
Also, finishing among the top 32 for Rock Hill was senior Eli Baker at No. 25 with a 17:17.1 time and junior Noah Wood who was No. 32 with a 17:31.9.
Rock Hill senior Nick Blankenship ran a 17:50.3 and was 56th while freshman Sam Simpson ran an 18:09.0 and was 66th. Senior Brady Floyd ran an 18:18.0 time and senior Blake Waller had a 20:01.7 clocking.
Coal Grove Hornets senior Dylan French was No. 65 with an 18:08.9 time.
In Division 2 boys’, Ironton Fighting Tigers’ junior William Hairston was No. 46 with a 17:31.8 clocking.
In Division 2 girls, Rock Hill as 15th as a team and was led by freshman Brianna Reynolds with a time of 20:43.0 to place No. 56 among 171 runners.
Junior Bella Stevens was next with a 21:15.2 time, junior Camryn Miller had a 21:24.0 clocking, sophomore Ellen Heaberlin ran a 23:28.4, sophomore Ashlie Howard had a 23:56.0 and Tru Pancake ran a 24:27.1 time.
In girls’ Division 3, Coal Grove Lady Hornets’ sophomore Kylee Thomas was No. 32 overall with a 20:59.8 time and sophomore Elli Holmes was No. 48 with a 21:27.7.
Also for the Lady Hornets, senior Sarah Cecil ran a 21:45.5 and was No. 62 and sophomore Abbey Hicks ran a 23:08.2.
Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ senior Elli Williams ran a 21:38.7 time and was 56th overall in the field of 134 runners.
Fellow Ironton senior Graci Davis had a 23:02.4 clocking, senior Molly Rust a 23:43.6 time, freshman Anna Davis a 24:32.8, senior Callie Thacker 25:23.2, Lilly Zornes 27:58.3 and Abigail Patterson ran a 32:00.8 time.
Mount Gilead won the meet with 57 points followed by Centerburg with 87 points.
