It’s too bad Fairland Lady Dragons’ senior golf standout Hanna Shrout doesn’t have just one more year of eligibility.
After finishing 23rd in the Ohio High School Athletic Association state golf tournament as a sophomore, she moved up to an eighth-place tie last season with a 15-over par.
This season, Shrout climbed the scoreboard ladder a little more with a fourth-place finish at the state tournament Oct. 11-12.
Kyleigh Dull of Kansas Lakota was the medalist with a 3-under par 137 on rounds of 70 and 67.
Casilda Allendesalazar of Canton Catholic and Jami Morris of Shaker Heights Laurel tied for second place with 2-over par 142s.
Dull and Morris tied for medalist honors last season.
Shrout finished tied for fourth place with Gabby Woods of Clinton-Massie with a 3-over par 143 as she shot rounds of 69 and 74 over the Par 70, 5,560-yard Gray Course at Ohio State University.
Shrout was the medalist in the girls’ Ohio Valley Conference tournament and nearly was medalist in the boys’ tournament.
She was medalist in the sectional tournament before finishing runner-up in the district to Westfall’s Maddi Shoults.
However, Shrout was voted the Southeast District Player of the Year by the coaches for her overall perfomance this season.
At the state tournament, Shoults was tied for ninth with a 10-over par 150.
Lima Catholic was the Division 2 team champion with a team score of 647 followed by Alliance Marlington at 658 and Zoarville Tuscarawas Valley at 669.
Southeast district champion Westfall was 11th with a 732 score.
