South Point announces 2020 Hall of Fame class

SOUTH POINT — South Point High School and the Hall of Fame committee have announced the 2020 induction class.
The Hall of Fame honors distinguished South Point athletes for the accomplishments during their time attending the school along with significant contributions to their respective community after graduation.
This year’s Hall of Fame class includes:
Keith Brown – Class of 1974
James Leroy Howard – Class of 1954
David Moore – Class of 1977
Angie Carico Phipps – Class of 1990
Eric “Scoot” Smith – Class of 1977
In addition to the five new members, this year there will be one inductee from the Delta Era of South Point. This category was established to honor athletes from the years 1913-48. This year’s selection is Minor Payne from the Class of 1925.
The new class will be introduced on Friday, Jan. 31, at halftime of the boys’ high school varsity halftime game against Rock Hill. Induction ceremonies to honor the new members will be on Saturday, Feb. 1, beginning with a social hour from 5-6 p.m. with light hors d’oeuvres and then a gourmet dinner at 6 p.m.
