Remembering those who have passed: Hall Funeral Home to have remembrance service

PROCTORVILLE — Hall Funeral Home will have its 20th annual tradition of remembering those who have passed away this year with a special prayer and remembrance service from 4-5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The service is designed to help families cope during the holiday season after losing a loved one. The funeral home invites all family members, friends and guests to participate in this remembrance of their loved ones.

As part of the event, the names of those who’ve passed on are read and a family member puts an unbreakable ornament representing them on the Christmas tree, called a Tree of Life. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the tree is lit up.

There will also be songs and, after the ceremony, there will be a reception.

Earnest B. Hall Jr. started the ceremony after the funeral home moved into their current location in 1999 to do something for the families, especially at the holidays.

Anyone with questions can call the funeral home at 740-886-6164.

Hall Funeral Home is located at 625 County Road 775 in Proctorville.
