WILLOW WOOD — For the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings, it was a team win.
The Lady Vikings used a team effort to beat the Sciotoville East Lady Tartans 56-44 in a Southern Ohio Conference game Thursday.
“It’s nice to get a win,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Shannon Pierce. “Everyone contributed to this win. Hopefully, we can build on this and add to our win total.”
Rachael Hayes scored 15 points to pace a balanced offense. Taylor Sells had 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Jenna Malone and Payton Hunter scored 7 points each while Kylee Thompson and Hailee Littlejohn had 6 points apiece for the Lady Vikings (2-4, 1-3). Malone also had 6 assists and 6 steals.
Taylor Sells had 7 rebounds while Jenna Malone got 6 assists and 6 steals.
Kacie Conley had 12 points and Grace Smith 11 for East.
The Lady Vikings took a 14-12 first quarter lead as Hayes and Malone combined for 10 points. Felicia Smith had 6 of her 8 points in the quarter.
Sells scored 7 points in the second quarter as Symmes Valley opened up a 27-19 halftime lead.
Hunter scored 5 points, Hayes 4 and Sells hit a 3-pointer as the Lady Vikings extended the lead to 43-30. Grace Smith and Kacie Conley had 4 points each for East.
Hayes had 6 points including 2-of-2 at the line and Thompson hit a trey and scored 5 points in the fourth quarter to stop any comeback hopes.
Symmes Valley host Portsmouth Clay on Monday.
