St. Joseph Flyers’ coach Chris Barnes likes when everyone gets involved in the offense.
He must have loved Saturday’s game.
Four players were in double figures and two more just missed by a point as the Flyers cruised past the Northwest Mohawks 72-37 in a non-league game.
Zach Roach had a pair of 3-pointers and scored 17 points to lead the balanced offense. Ryan Payne knocked down three from behind the arc and scored 13, J.C. Damron had 11 points — all in the first half — and Matt Sheridan had his biggest output of the season with 10 points.
Jackson Rowe hit three triples and Jimmy Mahlmeister also had 9 points including a trey as the Flyers improved to 4-0.
“It was a great team effort. We had balanced scoring and everyone played very unselfish. That’s the way we have to play to be successful,” said Barnes.
Billy Crabtree scored 15 points — 11 in the first half — and Brayden Campbell 9 for Northwest (0-7).
It didn’t take long for the Flyers’ offense to ignite as they raced to a 27-10 lead.
Roach hit both his 3’s and scored 10 points while Rowe, Sheridan, Payne and Mahlemister all drained long-range bombs.
The Flyers built a comfortable 42-18 halftime lead as Damron scored 8 points and Rowe hit another trifecta in the second quarter.
St. Joseph extended the lead to 56-22 after the third quarter as Payne got 8 points including two more treys and Mahlmeister added 4 points.
The Flyers emptied the bench in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Mohawks 16-15 to win going away.
The Flyers host Western on Tuesday.
