Slow starting Lady Bobcats get offense going in win over Western

FRANKLIN FURNACE — The Green Lady Bobcats must have forgot to put on their running shoes until the second quarter.
Green fell behind early but the got its offense rolling and never slowed down in a 68-47 win over the Western Lady Indians in a Southern Ohio Conference game on Monday.
Green (5-1, 3-1) fell behind 14-11 in the first quarter as Kenzi Ferneau scored 8 points including a pair of 3-pointers. Kame Sweeney had 6 points to keep Green close.
The tide changed in the second quarter as Green outscored Western 16-8 to go on top 27-22.
Kasey Kimbler hit a trey and scored 6 points and Sweeney had 4 more points to lead the rally. Ferneau had 4 for Western.
Both teams got their offenses going in the third quarter as Green extended its lead to 49-40.
Charli Blevins had a big quarter with a pair of 3-pointers and 4-for-4 at the foul line for 10 points while Kimbler also made a couple of trifectas.
Ferneau had two more 3-pointers and scored 8 points while Chloe Beekman had 6 points for the Lady Indians.
Anna Knapp ended any Western hopes of a comeback as she scored 10 points in the fourth quarter and Kimbler added 6 more to help Green win going away.
Kimbler led four players in double figures with 18 points. Sweeney scored 14 while Knapp and Blevins scored 12 each.
Ferneau had a game-high 21 for Western (1-5, 1-3).
Green is at Symmes Valley on Thursday.
