Circleville beats Lady Dragons

RIO GRANDE — There’s a reason the Circleville Lady Tigers are unbeaten.

Circleville showed why they are now 11-0 on the season with a 52-27 win over the Fairland Lady Dragons on Saturday in the Woods Lumber Shootout at the University of Rio Grande.

Circleville started slow as Fairland took an 11-9 first quarter lead as Tomi Hinkle, Jenna Stone and Bailey Roland all hit 3-pointers.

But the Lady Dragons only managed a 3-pointer by Stone in the second quarter as Circleville rallied to take a 23-14 halftime lead thanks to 8 points by Kenzie McConnell.

The Lady Dragons couldn’t generate much offense in the second half as Circleville outscored them 16-6 to increase the spread to 39-20.

McConnell had 5 more points as five different players scored.

Stone hit her third 3-pointer in the fourth quarter but the Lady Dragons managed just 7 points as Meghan Davis got 6 points for the Lady Tigers.

McConnell had 15 points and Davis 13 to lead Circleville.

Stone had 9 points and Hinkle 7 for Fairland who beat Heath on Friday night.

The Lady Dragons play South Charleston (W.Va.) at Marietta College on Friday.
