Dragons rout East

COLUMBUS — The Fairland Dragons took care of business early.
The Dragons built a 21-point halftime lead as they cruised past the Columbus East Tigers 57-37 in the Russ Gregg Classic at Whitehall-Yearling High School on Saturday.
Fairland (8-1) went ahead 20-8 in the first quarter as Aiden Porter hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 9 points while Gavin Hunt added 6 more points.
Cedric Norvette had 6 of East’s points.
The lead went to 35-14 at the half as Clayton Thomas, Tevin Taylor and Porter all hit 3-pointers in the second quarter. Taylor and Porter scored 5 points each in the stanza.
Thomas knocked down a pair of triples and Hunt had a 3-pointer to offset 8 points by East’s Kawlee Woods-Lane as Fairland extended its lead to 50-27.
Thomas and Mason Manns hit 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for Fairland.
Porter had 16 points and 3 assists to pace the Dragons while Thomas got 15 points and 7 assists. Jacob Polcyn grabbed 7 rebounds.
Woods-Lane had 10 points for East (0-8).
Fairland host Gallipolis on Friday.
