SCIOTOVILLE — The St. Joseph Flyers got their work done early.
The Flyers first group built a 28-point halftime lead and let the backups handle most of the playing time in the second half en route to a 76-43 Southern Ohio Conference win over the Sciotoville East Tartans on Saturday.
St. Joseph (12-4, 8-3) six different players make 3-point goals as they made nine for the game.
Zach Roach scored 18 points, Ryan Payne 14 and J.C. Damron 13 to lead a balanced offense for the Flyers that saw 13 different players score.
Austin Smith scored 10 points for East (0-15, 0-10).
Payne hit a 3-pointer and scored 9 points while Damron and Jackson Rowe added 6 points each to give the Flyers a 23-5 first quarter lead.
Roach took over in the second quarter as he drained a pair of triples and scored 10 points while Payne got 5 more and Damron scored 4 to give the Flyers a 49-21 cushion at the half.
Smith had had half of East’s 16 points in the second quarter including 4-of-5 from the foul line.
Roach hit two quick 3-pointers and Matthew Sheridan and Damron one each in the third quarter and Barnes began to substitute freely as the lead grew to 67-30.
Will Whaley and Elijah Rowe each knocked down trifectas in the fourth quarter for the Flyers.
Landehn Pernell scored 4 points in the quarter for East.
St. Joseph plays at Rose Hill on Tuesday in a girls/boys’ doubleheader.
