SOUTH POINT — New math lesson: MC = E2.
That’s massive points and lots of energy equals two Emilees which was the perfect equation for the South Point Lady Pointers as they beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 72-36 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
Emilee Carey scored 32 points while Emilee Whitt had 27 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals.
The Lady Pointers as a team shot 27-of-49 from the field for 55 percent including a sizzling 15-of-22 from the 3-point line for 68 percent.
Savannah Cade scored 12 points to pace Rock Hill (3-14, 0-12).
Whitt had seven 3-pointers while Carey hit six bombs. Diamond Crawley and Luca Pennington also had 3-pointers for South Point (11-6, 8-4).
Whitt knocked down three 3-pointers and scored 13 points in the first quarter with Carey making two more triples and Crawley one for a 22-12 lead.
MaKenzie Hanshaw and Cade scored 4 points each for Rock Hill.
Carey took charge in the second quarter with a pair of 3-pointers as she scored 12 points. Whitt also had a 3-pointer as the lead grew to 39-21 at the half.
Four different players scored for Rock Hill in the quarter.
Whitt and Carey got 11 points each in the third quarter to account for all the South Point scoring and the lead was now an insurmountable 61-26.
In the fourth quarter, Kaelyn Jones had 5 points and Pennington hit a 3-pointers.
Tru Pancake and Cade each hit 3-pointers for the Redwomen.
On Thursday, Rock Hill host Fairland and South Point hosts Coal Grove.
