Raymond Jackson

Oct. 13, 1954– Jan. 30, 2020

Raymond “Rick” Michael Jackson, 65, of Kitts Hill, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Rick was born Oct. 13, 1954 in Rush, Kentucky; a son to the late Ray Jackson and Alice (Thomas) Short and stepfather, Chester Short.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Connie (Ferguson) Jackson, whom he married April 13, 1974.

Rick was a 1972 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School. Rick was the owner/operator of Powerline Auto Parts for 33 years and was a former manufacturing laborer for American Car and Foundry.

In his spare time, he enjoyed photography, inspirational writing, tinkering with cars and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and David Jackson.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Chris Jackson, of Washington, D.C.; daughter, Becky (Chris) Johnson, of Lake Waynoka; four grandchildren, Richey (Tyler) Jackson, of Bidwell, America Johnson, of Portsmouth, Skyler Johnson and Tait Johnson, both of Lake Waynoka; great-grandson, Silas Jackson, and great-granddaughter, Sawyer Jackson, both of Bidwell; sister, Gayle (Bob) Johnson, of Kitts Hill; and an aunt, Phyllis Hutchinson, of Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Pastor Jim Kearns officiating. Burial will follow in Langdon Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Marcella Hughes

Dec. 4, 1931– Feb. 1, 2020

Marcella L. Hughes, 88, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, in Community Hospice Care, Ashland, Kentucky. Mrs. Hughes was born Dec. 4, 1931, in Ashland, Kentucky; a daughter to the late Oma and Hazel Moore. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy F. Hughes, whom she married July 1, 1974.

Mrs. Hughes was a 1949 graduate of Ashland High School. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Ironton First Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Michael Allen Moore; sister, Roseanne Anderson; two grandsons, D.J. Carey, III and Matthew Heath Gore; mother-in-law, Beatrice Hughes; and son-in-law, Dr. Oren W. Justice.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by brother, Howard (Jean) Moore; four sons, Michael (Loretta) Wirzfeld, of Ironton, Howard G. (Teresa) Wirzfeld, Jimmy B. (Kelli) Hughes, of Ironton and Jeff Sparks, of Orlando, Florida; four daughters, Pamela (Tim) Robinson, of Ashland, Kentucky, Tamara (Dan) Spitz, of Lees Summit, Missouri, Vicki (William) Wurts, of Franklin Furnace, and Deidre Justice of Ashland, Kentucky; 23 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren

Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday at First Church of the Nazarene, 2318 S. Fourth St., Ironton, with Pastor Rob Hale officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 5 p.m. until time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marcella’s name to First Church of the Nazarene, “Prime Timers”, 2318 S. Fourth St., Ironton, OH 45638.

Jeremy France

Jeremy Allen France, 37, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020.

He is survived by his wife, Erica Yardley France.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Helen Elizabeth Gosselin McConnell, 92, of Pedro, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2020 at Harbor Healthcare of Ironton, Ironton.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, Northeast, Greenup County, Kentucky.

Welhelmena Foster, 68, of Coal Grove, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at home.
