Dodgion qualifies for district swim meet

LUCASVILLE — Kendall Dodgion is going back.
For the second straight season, the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ stellar swimmer is headed for the Division 2 district tournament.
The district tournament will be held beginning at noon on Wednesday at Ohio State University. Dodgion will compete in a meet that combines the Southeast and Central districts.
Dodgion earned her trip to the district in two events at the sectional tournament held last Saturday at Ohio University in Athens.
Dodgion won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:25.74 and then was edged out by Chillicothe senior Hannah Tapp in the 100-yard freestyle.
Tapp posted a 56.15-second time to Dodgion’s 57.195-second time.
Heading into the district meet, Dodgion is ranked 11th overall in the 200-yard IM and 13th in the 100-yard freestyle.
Tapp is seeded third in the 100-yard freestyle thanks to her narrow win.
On the season, Dodgion had four first-place finished and two second-place in the 100-yard freestyle as well as four first-place and one-second place in the 200-yard IM.
