Arden, Schreck combine to lead Lady Tigers by Lady Dragons

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons held senior night on Monday. Evidently, Ironton seniors Lexie Arden and Riley Schreck thought they were invited to the party.
Arden and Schreck combined for 27 of Ironton’s 35 second half points to lead the Lady Tigers to a 61-47 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Lady Dragons.
Arden finished with a game-high 25 points and Schreck hit three 3-pointers as she scored 11 points — all in the second half.
Elli Williams had 13 points including three 3-pointers.
Fairland (12-10, 10-4) was led by senior Jenna Stone with 14 points as she hit four 3-point goals. Bailey Roland made three 3-pointers as the Lady Dragons had 10 as a team.
Arden drained a 3-pointer and scored 5 points, Samantha LaFon had 4 of her 6 points, and Elli Williams hit a pair of 3-pointers as Ironton took a 15-13 lead.
Bailey Roland, Tomi Hinkle and Jenna Stone all hit 3-pointers to keep Fairland close.
Fairland tied the game 26-all at the half as Stone made two more 3-pointers and Roland got another trey in the second quarter.
Williams hit another 3-pointer and Arden scored 4 points for Ironton in the quarter.
Arden took charge in the third quarter as she hit a 3-pointer, went 3-for-3 at the foul line and scored 10 points while Riley Schreck hit a trifecta and went 2-for-2 at the foul line and Ironton went back in front 43-38.
Harlie Lyons made a pair of triples while Roland hit another 3-pointer and a free throw to remain in striking distance.
But in the fourth quarter, Schreck buried two key 3-pointers, Elli Williams was 4-for-4 at the foul line and Arden scored 6 more points including 2-of-2 at the line to help the Lady Fighting Tigers continue to pull away.
Stone made her fourth 3-pointer and scored 5 points and Roland had 4 points to account for all of Fairland’s points in the quarter.
UP NEXT: Both play in the Division 3 sectional tournament on Wednesday. Ironton plays West Union at 6:15 p.m. at Lucasville while Fairland faces Portsmouth West at 8 p.m. in Jackson.
