Grayson Gallery to host ‘Peace and Love’ show

GRAYSON, Ky. — The Grayson Gallery and Art Center will host an opening reception for the annual “Peace & Love” art show and sale for artists and the public on Friday.

The monthly F!nal Fr!days Art Walk will be from 6–9 p.m. that evening and is sponsored by the Grayson Rotary Club.

The exhibit features over 60 pieces of original art in various media by 20 artists from over a dozen cities across the region and beyond. Visitors may vote on their favorite piece and a $50 People’s Choice cash award will be given to the winner.

In addition, a GGAC Board Choice and the Brandon Click Memorial, each at $50, will be awarded.

Music will be by The Return Band, featuring Gary Kesling of 9 Live Records and refreshments provided from Catering by Laura.

This event is free to attend with donations at the door much appreciated. Henna Tattoos by Maranda Knipp will be offered for a fee ($5 and up) as well. A special sale of items by The Lost Mouse Co. will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

What’s next at the GGAC will be the “Women in the Arts” event, in celebration of Women’s History Month, set for opening on March 27, featuring all female artists, including live music by the Appalachian Ladies Review with Karen Combs and members of the Huntington Blues Society. “Celebrate the Earth” will be April 24.

Other programs throughout March and April include a public informational and membership meeting with Foothills Exploration of Appalachian Tourism on March 3 at 6:30 p.m., a special bluegrass show with Don Rigsby and a Holler Down the Holler Poetry Slam. A “Remake Learning Days” assemblage workshop for youth and adults is tentatively scheduled for April 25 (watch for firm dates, times and details on each program).
