PORTSMOUTH — The Alzheimer’s Association is seeking volunteers to be part of the team behind the Southern Ohio Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The 2020 Southern Ohio Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Shawnee State University.

A “Volunteer Open House & Happy Hour” will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Port City Pub, located at 424 Chillicothe St. in Portsmouth.

The public is asked to stop by to learn how they can become part of the effort. There is no charge to attend, but organizers ask people to RSVP online at http://walkhappyhour.eventbrite.com or by emailing Jeff Dehner at jdehner@alz.org.

More than 5 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease — 220,000 in the State of Ohio alone. Held annually in over 600 communities nationwide, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, education and caregiver support.
