Jason Stamper

Oct. 31, 1983–March 25, 2020

Jason Anthony Stamper, 36, of Pedro, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center, Ironton Campus. He was born Oct. 31, 1983 to Chet (Debbie) Stamper and Cindy Stamper, both of Ironton, whom survives. Jason is also survived by his fiancé and mother of his children, Amy Friend.

Jason attended Rock Hill schools and was an employee of JVC Metal in Oak Hill. His life was dedicated to his family and especially his four children. Jason loved coaching his children and so many other children at Rock Hill in baseball and basketball. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and just being around his family. He was of the Baptist faith.

Jason was preceded in death by a maternal grandmother, Mary Cochran; paternal grandparents, Chet and Minnie Stamper; an uncle, James Cochran; a sister, Rebecca Stamper and a cousin, Aaron Stamper.

Along with his parents and his fiancé, Amy, those left to cherish his memory are two sons, Anthony Stamper and Bradey Stamper; two daughters, Aubreyona Stamper and Kyia Stamper, all of Pedro; mother and father-in-law, Desmond and Sherri Friend, of Pedro; two sisters, Brandy (Charlie) Leisure and Sarah (Ashley) Stamper, both of South Point; a brother, Josh (Caitie) Stamper, of South Point; two brother and sister-in-laws, Tim and DesiRae Abrams, of Pedro, and Desmond and Ashley Friend, of Pedro; a sister-in-law, Kristina Friend, of Pedro; a very special friend, Bill (Brandy) Friend, of Pedro; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.

There will be a graveside service 1 p.m. Monday at Puckett Cemetery, Pedro, with Brother Dave Schug officiating.

There will be no public visitation at the funeral home, but the funeral procession will be going through the Rock Hill Elementary School parking lot at approximately 12:45 p.m. for the public to pay their respects and then proceed onto the cemetery.

Terrence Pryor

June 6, 1942–March 26, 2020

Terrence M. Pryor, 77, of South Point, died Thursday, March 26, 2020, at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

He was born June 6, 1942, in Glendale, California, a son of the late Montel and Ethel Pryor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Benny Parsons.

Terrence was a former sheriff and later retired as a explosives engineer from the U.S. Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, California.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Ratliff Pryor; a son, Barry Parsons (Beverly), of South Point; two daughters, Tina Irwin and Shannon Richardson, both of California; and seven grandchildren, Dakota, Zoe, Cheyanne, Eden, Brooklyn, Hunter and Joey.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hecla Cemetery with Pastor Dan Campbell officiating.

Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Freddie Penwell Jr.

Fred “Freddie” Penwell Jr., 67, of Pedro, formerly of Washington Courthouse, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at the VA Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia.

He is survived by long-time companion, Rebecca Bailey.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private graveside service will be held at the Washington Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Summers Funeral Home.

Mary Montgomery

Mary Joyce Sheils Clark Montgomery, 87, of Huntington, West Virginia, formerly of Crown City, died Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point.

Private funeral services will be held Sunday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, with Pastor Kevin McElwain officiating. Burial will be in Culloden Cemetery, Culloden, West Virginia.
