Imogene Stumbo

Imogene Stumbo, 93, of Coal Grove, passed away peacefully at Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley in Ironton, Ohio on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023.

The Price, Kentucky, native was born June 21, 1930 to her late parents; Booten Hamilton and Ida Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Stumbo, who passed away on April 12, 2019.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers; Willie Hamilton, of Mansfield, Eldron Hamilton, of Beckley, West Virginia, Delmar Hamilton, of Coal Grove; sisters, Arizona Moore, of Flint, Michigan, Cloramae Hobbs, of Shelby, Edith Elliot, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Inias Keene, of Plymouth; and a grandson, Matthew Stumbo, of Proctorville.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Gary (Kathy) Stumbo, of Kitts Hill, Larry (Debra) Stumbo, of Shallotte, North Carolina, and Steven (Virginia Anne) Stumbo, of South Point, grandchildren; Larry D. (Stephanie) Stumbo, of Coal Grove, Sarah (Darrell) Humphreys, of Deering, Rob (Angie) Stumbo, of Oak Island, North Carolina, Andrew (Shaina) Stumbo, of Ironton, Aaron (Nicole) Stumbo, of Ironton, Emily (Walker) Stumbo, of Columbus, Adam (Megan) Stumbo, of Athens, Jeremy Bragg, of Barboursville, West Virginia, Kathy Morrison, of Proctorville, and Kristi Edmonds, of Proctorville.

She is also survived by eight great grandchildren; Briana, Hunter, Douglas, Meredith, Halle, Chase, Halie, and Clay.

Special thank you to all of those at Sanctuary of Ohio Valley for care of both mom and dad.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton, with Pastor Jeff Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
