• The Village of Chesapeake will host its annual tree lighting at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Triangle Park.

The event, organized by the Chesapeake Area Citizens Coalition, features music from local schools, followed by the arrival of Santa Claus, who will ride in on a fire truck and meet with children.

Hot chocolate will also be served.

• In Deering, Community Missionary Baptist Church, located at 4125 State Route 243 (four miles from the four-way stop in Coal Grove), will host a live Nativity, featuring live animals, on Friday and Saturday. The event will run from 6-7:30 p.m. each night.

• The Village of Coal Grove will host its annual Christmas parade on Friday at 6 p.m. The parade will come through Marion Pike in the village. The event is organized by the Coal Grove Betterment Club, who also have decorated Paul Porter Park in the village for the holiday. Those lights will be on display through the Christmas season.

• The Lawrence County Museum’s downtown Historic Church Walk is set for Saturday.

The tour, which take attendees through multiple downtown churches in the city, will feature 15-minute stops at each location, where Christmas-themed messages and music will be featured. The tour winds up at the museum, where refreshments will be served.

The guided tour kicks off at First Baptist Church, located at Fifth and Vernon streets.

All events are free and open to the public.
