SOUTH POINT — Coach Dave Adams might be hanging a sign on the gym door that reads: Under Construction.

The South Point Lady Pointers picked up a 38-20 win over the Greenup County (Ky.) Lady Musketeers on Tuesday in the season opener, but Adams said there is still plenty of work to do.

“We played well on defense but offensively we were close. We have things to work on,” said Adams.

The Lady Pointers’ top worker was Camille Hall who outscored the entire Greenup County team as she got a game-high 21 points.

“Camille led us on both ends of the court,” said Adams. “It was good to get a win in the home opener.”

Hall scored 8 points in the first quarter as South Point took a 14-3 lead. Saratina Jackson and Emma Harper added 2 points each.

Kennedy Spencer hit a 3-pointer for Greenup’s points.

Neither team could score in the second quarter as Bella Stith hit a 3-pointer for Greenup and Hall had a basket for the Lady Pointers who led 16-6 at the half.

Hall scored 8 more points in the third quarter and Emma Saddler added a basket as each team scored 10 points. Greenup was 5-of-5 from the foul line in the quarter and Spencer hit another triple.

The Lady Pointers got going again in the fourth quarter by outscoring Greenup 12-4 with Samiya Bradburn scoring 4 points while Hall and Jackson had 3 each.

South Point will host Coal Grove on Monday.
