Thomas Jones

Thomas J. Jones, 86, of Coal Grove, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones and a special caregiver, Sarah Cripple, on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023.

He was born July 12, 1937 in Lawrence County, to his late parents, Clarence Jones and Carrie Hurst Jones.

Tom was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and proudly served in the United States Navy.

He was a retired truck driver for Ryerson Steel and a member of the Ironton First Church of Nazarene.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Judy Jones; a son, Todd Jones; a grandson, Brandon Jones; his brother, Bounce Jones; and two sisters, Genevieve Millium and Martha Jones.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Teresa Hughes, Dee (John) Jones, Ed Jones and Tammy Jones; seven grandchildren, Casey (Emily) Jones, Codey (Logan) Jones, Kristin (Robert) Thompson, Courtney (Jude) Meyers, Candice Jones, Sara Bush Jones and Shanna Jones; 13 great-grandchildren, Haley (L.J. Colley) Hughes, Payton Thompson, Paisley Thompson, Colt Jones, Maverick Jones, Addi Jones, Jordan Jones, Myia Sutter, Brandon Kane, Jaylen Bush, J.P. Garcia and Jaci Garcia, Brandon Jones, Jr.; and a great-great-grandchild, Eloise Colley; and a special caregiver, Sarah Cripple.

There will be a private memorial celebration held at a later date.
