Chesapeake hosts annual tree lighting event

CHESAPEAKE — The festive season has arrived in the Village of Chesapeake, with their annual tree lighting event, which took place on Thursday.

The event, organized by the Chesapeake Area Citizens Coalition, is a tradition each year, in Triangle Park.

It made its comeback last year, after the COVID-19 pandemic and upgrades to the space, forced it to be called off for a few years.

It begins with musical performances from the local school district, while hot chocolate is served to the crowd.

Following this the lights are turned on for the village tree, as Santa Claus arrives on a truck from the village volunteer fire department and meets with the children.

CACC works on multiple events in the village, including the annual Octoberfest event.
