George Roe

George Luther Roe, 73, passed away at his residence on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023.

Surrounded by his loving family, George’s journey on earth came to an end, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on March 5, 1950, in Ironton, to Luther and Wilma Roe.

Growing up alongside his brother, John Roe, and sisters, Irene Primm and Elsie Fairchild, George developed a deep sense of love and loyalty towards his family that remained with him throughout his life.

George worked for many years at Florida Power as a telecommunications technician.

He dedicated himself to his work with unwavering commitment and exceptional talent.

Beyond his professional endeavors, George found solace in various hobbies and interests.

Riding his tractor through open fields brought him immense joy as he connected with nature. Fishing served as both a calming pursuit and an opportunity to bond with loved ones over shared experiences.

An enthusiast of amateur radio, he reveled in connecting with people from different backgrounds and forming lasting friendships within this tight-knit community.

George possessed remarkable skills as a handyman, there was no problem he wouldn’t try to solve or broken item he wouldn’t try to fix.

His inclination to help others selflessly showcased his compassionate nature and genuine concern for those around him.

Amidst these passions and accomplishments, what truly brought light into George’s life was spending time with his family.

George leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Judy Roe; two sons, Tommy Roe (Kerry), of Rincon and Chad Roe (Christine), of Honolulu, Hawaii; grandchildren, Luke Roe, Sean Roe, Owen Roe and Madison Roe; and brother, John Roe (Carol), of Ashland, Kentucky.

Services will be private.

Arrangements are under the care of Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home in Guyton, Georgia.
