PORTSMOUTH — If the Portsmouth Lady Trojans were a car, they wouldn’t be very impressive because they couldn’t go from zero to 60 in 10 seconds.

But as a basketball team that can go from zero to 28 points in 8 minutes, that’s pretty good.

The Lady Trojans raced to a 28-4 first quarter lead as they beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 61-29 on Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Sienna Allen scored 10 points that included a pair of 3-pointers and KeKe Woods scored 8 points as Portsmouth got off to its fast start.

Allen and Woods combined for 9 points in the second quarter as the lead went to 44-15 at the half.

Kinsy Keeney hit a 3-pointer for Coal Grove.

Daysha Reid scored 6 points in the third quarter while Woods had 5  points including a trifecta and Allen added 4 more and the lead went to 61-25.

Jenna Anson had 5 points for Coal Grove in the quarter.

Allen scored 19 points to lead Portsmouth (4-1, 2-0) with Woods netting 17 and Reid adding 10.

Anson had 12 points to lead Coal Grove (2-4, 1-2).

On Thursday, Coal Grove hosts Gallipolis and Portsmouth entertains Chesapeake.
