Church provides carols to HHC residents

Residents at Harbor Health Care got a big surprise leading into the Christmas holiday, with two sets of visitors showing up to spread holiday cheer.

The Ironton High School basketball stopped by the senior living facility on the morning of Dec. 23, along with coach Chris Barnes, carrying bags full of gifts.

The team walked the halls, going to door to door and delivering the presents to residents.

“It’s great to get the team out to help people,” Barnes said.

The group crossed paths in the halls with other visitors that morning.

A group, from Union Baptist Church, of Kitts Hill, had arrived shortly before them.

Church members walked through the halls, singing Christmas carols, before wrapping up in the facility’s dining room, where they sang to piano accompaniment and encouraged the residents to join them in a singalong.
