Lady Pointers fall to Lady Green Devils in district finals

WAVERLY — The defense was there but the offense didn’t seem to want to play.

The South Point Lady Pointers turned in a strong defensive effort against the favored North Adams Lady Green Devils only to sputter on offense and lose 47-27 in the Division 3 district finals on Saturday.

The No. 11 seeded Lady Pointers were still in the game heading into the fourth quarter as they trailed by 10 points, but the offense virtually went on holiday as No, 5-seeded North Adams was able to pull away.

Kenzie Jones hit a 3-pointer as 4 different players scored to give North Adams a slim 8-7 lead.

Camille Hall scored 5 of the Lady Pointers 7 points.

Katelynn Boerger scored 6 points and Harlee Brand 4 points as the Lady Green Devils pulled away to a 23-15 halftime lead.

Saratina Jackson, Molly Adams and Hall combined for 7 or the 8 points for South Point.

The game stayed close in the third quarter as North Adams outscored South Point 12-10 to lead 35-25.

Tatum Grooms scored 4 points and 4 different Lady Green Devils players had a basket.

Jackson scored 6 points and Hall added 3 points for the Lady Pointers.

The Lady Pointers downfall came in the fourth quarter as the offense went cold and they scored just 2 points.

Six different players scored for North Adams as they extended the lead to get the win and the district title.

South Point (14-10) was led by Hall with 12 points and Jackson who scored 10.

North Adams (20-5) was paced by Boerger with 13 points and Jones with 10.
