Richard Jefferys

Richard M. Jefferys passed away on March 5, 2024, at age 82.

Richard was the devoted husband and survived by Mary Diane Jefferys (nee Brinkman) and beloved father of Jessica, Gretchen (Ranjan) Sinha, Leslie (Todd) Brandenburg, and Andrew (Jennifer).

He was the loving Grandpa and ‘Popper’ to 12 grandchildren: Sydney, Dylan, Kavi, Riley, Nyah, JT, Asha, William, Barrett, Hudson, Walker and Calvin as well as great-grandchild Vanessa.

He is also survived by sisters Mary Anne (Donald) Bohn and Melinda Griffith.

Richard was born and raised in Ironton, by Matthew and Alberta (nee Foit) Jefferys on Oct. 5, 1941.

After childhood, Richard attended high school at Gilmour Academy in the suburbs of Cleveland, and graduated from Princeton University in 1964. Richard and Mary were married Feb. 27, 1965 after meeting as camp counselors at Ft. Scott in New Baltimore.

After spending time between Middletown, working as a high school teacher and baseball coach and Rochester, New York, furthering his education, the family returned to Cincinnati where Richard began his career in the printing industry.

Richard will be remembered for his love of family, particularly his enjoyment in spending time with his grandchildren.

Throughout his life, he had a passion for the game of golf spending the last several years of his life as an active member in the local Par Hopers golf league.

As a young man, Richard was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and was a proud Eagle Scout.

He never missed an opportunity to learn and teach.

Services will be held privately for the family.
