New group launched this year for Ironton
The Ironton Kiwanis Club met on March 2 for a charter celebration party.
Mary Williams, with the club, said to purpose of the event was to celebrate the founding of the new club, which launched this year.
She said 24 members were inducted at the ceremony, and there was a silent auction to raise funds for the group’s planned activities.
“We would like to thank local businesses for their generous donations,” she said. Williams noted that the Ironton club is the first club chartered this year in the State of Ohio and many district leaders turned out for the Ro-Na event.
“We’re excited for what the future holds,” she said, noting that officers would be selected at a future date.
“Now we can move forward with our plans for the community, and our plans for events and activities” she said.
Williams said those interested in joining the club can come by their meetings, which take place at noon on the first Tuesday of each month and 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month in the Ohio Room in the Collins Center at Ohio University Southern.
Williams said people attending meetings do not have to be a new member.
“If you are interested in learning more, please come by and introduce yourself,” she said. “New members and guests are always welcome.”
