Wayne National Forest camp, trails to open on April 12

PEDRO — The Wayne National Forest (WNF) will open campgrounds and recreation sites, including all motorized and non-motorized trails, to visitors beginning in April to launch the 2024 recreation season.

With exception of Big Bend Beach, all recreation sites on the Ironton Ranger District reopen April 12. They include the following:

• Oak Hill Campground

• Iron Ridge Campground

• Pine Knob Campground

• Paddle Creek Horse Campground (open year-round)

• Two-Point Group Campground

• Furnace Group Picnic Shelter

• Roadside Group Picnic Shelter

• Big Bend Beach will reopen May 25.

All Ironton Ranger District sites, except for Big Bend Beach and Paddle Creek Horse Campground, are reservable through www.recreation.gov.

All other campgrounds operate on a first come, first served basis. Dispersed (primitive) camping is also available throughout most of the general forest area except where prohibited.

WNF district rangers reserve the right to adjust opening dates based on inclement weather and other influences.

Beginning Monday, March 25, motorized trail passes may be purchased at any WNF office, at 12 participating vendor locations, or online at Pay.gov – Wayne National Forest Motorized Trail Pass.
