Lady Dragons roll past Lady Trojans

PORTSMOUTH — The Fairland Lady Dragons are still using that same formula: good pitching plus good hitting.

Kaylee Salyer provided the good pitching as she allowed one run and the offense provided the good hitting with 14 hits as Fairland beat the Portsmouth Lady Trojans 11-1 in a 6-inning Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday.

Salyer scattered 6 hits, struck out 11 and walked only one in going the distance for the win.

Fairland (4-1, 2-0) was led offensively by Ally Shepherd who was 3-4 with a triple and 2 runs batted in.

Jordan Spencer was 2-3, Makena Black 2-2 with a triple and 2 RBI, Hailey Sammons 2-4 with 3 RBI, Aubrey Hayes 1-3 with a triple, Katy Bell 1-3 and Salyer was 2-5 with a double and 2 RBI.

Portsmouth (2-4, 0-2) had 6 different players get hits led by Karlee Galloway who was 1-2 with a double.

Emily Cheatham, Madison Ankrom, Madison Boren and Ayonna Carr all went 1-3 for the Lady Trojans.

Fairland plays at Huntington at 6 p.m. on Friday.
