The Ironton Little League will be hosting a tournament for age groups 7-to-11 on Saturday and Sunday, May 25-26, with an opening day festivities on Saturday beginning at 9:15 a.m. that will honor military veterans.

The tournament wants to honor all United States military veterans and is asking for their attendence for an on-field showing for the first pitch to be made by veteran Frank Collins whose catcher will be his great-grandson Beau Wagner. Veteran Brian McClellan will sing the National Anthem.

“The Memorial Day weekend is about the veterans and that’s why we want them on the field to honor them,” said tournament director Jeff Bryant.

“I would love to have so many veterans that you couldn’t see any grass or dirt. We’re planning to have some  assistance for those veterans who will have trouble getting to the field from their cars.”
