Vonna Lea Moore, BSN, RN, 86, of South Point, went home to be with Jesus on May 15, 2024, at Emogene Dolin Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.

She was born Sept. 11, 1937, in Ironton, a daughter of the late Mark and Georgia Thompson Delawder.

She was the widow of Alden E. Moore, who passed away on April 15, 2011. They had been married for 28 years.

She is survived by her stepdaughter and her husband, Alda S. Wagner and Allen B. Wagner, of South Point; Nana’s granddaughters, Amber A. Dillion and Robert W. Dillon, of South Point, Dr. Amanda S. Turner and Dr. Patrick Turner, of Springboro; one great-granddaughter, Lydia A. Dillon; and two great-grandsons, Sawyer A. Dillon, of South Point, and Elijah J. Turner, of Springboro.

Vonna worked in nursing while earning her degree from the University of Cincinnati. She worked in the children’s cardio unit at UC and worked at KDMC in Ashland, Kentucky. She ended her career at Collins Career Center, teaching nursing to many students.

Vonna was very proud of her nursing career and would tell many stories about her nursing endeavors. She spent the last two years living at Wyngate Assisted Living Facility in Proctorville, where she made many new friends.

Vonna played the piano and sang for the other residents as they asked.

She had many nieces and nephews from New York to Oklahoma.

Her neighbor on Lick Creek in South Point, Tom Brooks, also helped her when she needed him.

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace Family Funeral Home, South Point, with Pastor Robert Dillon officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.

Family and friends are welcome to visit from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wallace Family Funeral Home, a time for shared memories and support.
