Betty Jean Harper, 91, of Pedro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024, after an extended illness at Close To Home in Ironton.

The Oakland, California native was born March 29, 1933, a daughter of the late Rufus Barnett and Nellie (Mart) Barnett.

Betty was a graduate of Pedro High School with the class of 1951.

She retired in 1979 from Ohio Bell/AT&T as a telephone operator after 35 years of service.

She loved baking, crocheting and working in the yard.

In her later years, she made hundreds of homemade doilies and gifted them to many!

Betty was a member of the Franklin Furnace Independent Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Lawrence Harper, Jr.; brothers, Buddy Barnett, of Kitts Hill and James Barnett, of Pedro; and her sister, Phyllis Fuller, of Cincinnati.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cindy (Bruce) Wright, of Rush, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Corey (Shelbey) Heaberlin, of Ashland, Kentucky, Shelby (Jordan) Babbington, of Huntington, West Virginia, and Lexi Wright, of Cincinnati; three great grandchildren, Trinitey Fields, Avery Heaberlin and Colby Heaberlin; sisters, Erma Sheets of Wheelersburg, Donna (Richard) Cremeans of Lexington, Kentucky, Peggy (Danny) Greene, of Iron Station, North Carolina, and Beverly Tordiff, of Ironton.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton, with Pastor Dennie Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
