Local hospital would cut down travel for many

I am so excited that there may be a medical facility locally that is connected to St. Mary’s Medical Center.

I am a retiree of West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. I have PEIA hospitalization which is accepted at border state hospitals with the exception of one in the northern panhandle of West Virginia and the two in Ashland.

Because of this, it is necessary for me to travel to Huntington for my medical needs. Local doctors may accept PEIA, but have privileges locally at Ashland making it necessary for me to also travel to West Virginia for general medical, in addition to any testing needed.

If this becomes a reality it would cut back dramatically on necessary medical travel.

It definitely has my vote.
