The OHSAA and AEP are quite a team.

With a power outage in some areas of Columbus for more than a week due to strong winds from Hurricane Ike, the Ohio High School Athletic Association were unable to compute their weekly playoff ratings.

The power returned this week and the OHSAA released its first official computer ratings.

The Ironton Fighting Tigers are sitting at No. 8 in Region 15 of Division IV with a 5.9250 average.

Ironton (3-2) is facing two pivotal games over the next two weeks that would bolster their playoff hopes. Tonight the Fighting Tigers play at Chillicothe, seventh in Region 12 of Division III, and then next Friday they host Jackson, currently eighth in Region 8 of Division II.

Leading the region is Martins Ferry at 7.7830 followed by Belmont Union Local (7.6500), New Lexington (7.4000), Columbus Hartley (6.6290), Licking Heights (6.600), Gallipolis (6.5180), and St. Clairsville (5.9590).

Meigs is ninth at 5.6700 and Westfall 10th with a 5.300 average.

In Region 19 of Division V, Fredericktown is first followed by Minford, Nelsonville-York, Wheelersburg, Liberty Union, Paint Valley, Portsmouth West and Heath.

Ironton plays at Nelsonville-York in week nine this season.

The top eight teams in each region of all six divisions at the end of the season qualify for the postseason playoffs.
