COAL GROVE— Ready, set, go!!

Community Missionary Baptist Church in Coal Grove will begin its Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed (AWANA) program at 6:15 p.m. Sept. 3.

Taken from 2 Timothy 2:15, AWANA is a structured program for children of all ages. It emphasizes Bible verse memorization as the primary activity. CMBC will feature themes, games, special events, and guest speakers throughout the year, all of which are meant to add energy and excitement in the process of learning of God’s Word.

The church’s AWANA program will also have its annual event, The AWANA Grand Prix, titled “Race for JESUS”.

Dozens of children and adults will spend several weeks designing, painting, and testing their Grand Prix derby cars, which are symbolic of developing our spiritual lives to run the race of life for Jesus, program commander Rebecca Lambert explained.

Steven and Pam Schenk, Ohio AWANA developmental missionaries travel the state with the purpose to strengthen churches, helping them to establish AWANA clubs with trained leaders, and to build a ministry team to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ.

Steve says,

“God calls missionaries to minister in a particular place.” God has called us to Southern Ohio, where we grew up, went to school, were married, and have many friends through AWANA. God calls missionaries to minister to a particular people.

God has called us to reach boys and girls (and their parents) with the Gospel, and to train them (and their AWANA leaders) to serve Him,” Steve Schenk said.

Lambert, CMBC’s AWANA Commander said, “Community Missionary Baptist Church has been a very strong supporter of the Schenk’s work and is honored to host them every year as part of our AWANA Program.”
