An ordinance on tonight’s Ironton City Council agenda is for the city to decide if it wants to hire an engineer to review the city’s Ro-Na Theater property.

Before the city starts on the Ro-Na, council members wanted to get a structural report to find out what shape the building is in.

According to the “scope of professional services” document attached to the council agenda, the structural evaluation would include visual inspection of the walls; steel and wood framed members of the building, inside and out, and would be performed by a licensed engineer. A report listing deficiencies and what repairs need to be made would be turned over to the city’s consulting architect. The cost is $10,500 and the report would be completed by E.L. Robinson.

The funds for the structural report will come out of the city’s general fund.

Two other ordinances on the agenda are both up for third readings. The first would authorize the mayor purchase a hydraulic breaker and a hydraulic kit for the water distribution department. The second would be to purchase a Vermeer brush chipper for the city street department.

An item under miscellaneous is an appointment to the Civil Service Commission for a three year term.
